The Game Of Life: Do Women And Men Balance Each Other?
I read this book entitled “In Search of the Proverbs 31 Man” a few years ago and the below passage grabbed my attention and made me think about a few things. Since I’m a former ball player, I completely understood the analogies that were made. I would love to hear your thoughts on this. I'm not sure if you watch basketball but if you are a believer or even if you are not. I ask, whom do you think is the most important player or players on the basketball court...Now read below.
"The Game of Life"
"Let's consider the game of life in basketball terms. The man is the guard. He is responsible for bringing the ball down the court and setting up the play-in other words, coming up with the game plan. The guard looks for the best point of attack, judging which pass to which player yields the best chance for a score. He controls the ball until he can determine who is in the strongest position to shoot the ball. A truly confident man knows when to pass off a decision or a move to his wife if she is in the better position to score a point for the home team.
The woman plays the position of the forward. Though some forwards are called "small", they are no less formidable than any other player. On defense, forwards keep a constant eye on their opponents. This translates into a woman's making sure her man is covered and has all the room he needs to carry out the agree-upon plan. On offense, forwards help the guard handle the ball. The woman helps the man move toward a winning play by balancing life between them. Forwards are also the players responsible for rebounding. Isn’t that what women do? They can catch what might escape the man's grasp and turn things around, recovering and creatively avoiding losses, keeping the home team winning. Women exercise discerning and intuitive muscle that keeps the team on point, foreseeing the advances of the opposition.
Obviously, God would be the center. This is where He belongs, in the middle of the court. Everything revolves around the center. The center occupies space in the middle of the defense. He is the great protector who makes it hard for the other team to score a point. That would be the enemy of your souls, Satan, who is highly opposed to man and woman being one. God also has the capacity to rebound. Truly God can seize our mistakes and losses and turn them for the good."
I read this and I said hmm..when a guy ask me what I want from a mate, here is a way I can explain it on his level. LOL. Honestly it gave me even more of a practical thought of how important God is in a marriage and what I want in a mate. We should move and act as a team, and through everything God is the center. He completely cover us in everything thing we do and can recover any loss or setback.
Although I’m not married yet, I observe friends and family members whom marriages resemble this. I think it is beautiful to see husband and wives build as a team and grow together. As each of you search for your proverbs 31 woman or man, keep the above passage in mind.
Ecclesiastes 4:12 –Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
